Saddle Creek-Eagle IV is an 80,000 SF cross-dock distribution center for another repeat client, Saddle Creek Logistics. The facility will be used to distribute baked goods for one of the country’s largest bakeries. RA-LIN was selected as the Design-Builder for Eagle IV, and worked with the Owner and Southern A&E to optimize the building layout and site logistics to maximize the size, as well as the complete design of the facility.
The team had to address early challenges of relocating over 130,000 cubic yards of existing soils and construct a 25-foot tall retaining wall adjacent to a streambed in order to support the building site. Since this new facility is located on an existing distribution center campus, the RA-LIN team had to schedule deliveries so as not to interrupt the constant flow of truck traffic for existing operations.
The building is a load-bearing concrete tilt wall exterior with structural steel framing. There are 54 dock pits spaced along three sides of the building. Over 120,000 SF of paving allows for the efficient traffic flow and parking of semi-trailers on the number seven site.
