Design Professional: Baptist Retirement Community of Georgia
The Baptist Retirement Communities of Georgia, Inc. presented RA-LIN with the need for a compressed construction schedule to meet the move-in requirements of already signed up senior citizens in this independent living facility some 45 minutes south of Atlanta. RA-LIN began with a thorough soil and drainage evaluation before beginning site preparation. We then immediately went to work with the designer to review drawings for constructability, evaluate materials and construction processes and consult with specialty contractors on pricing and local availability of services. After a successful round of supplier and subcontractor bidding, RA-LIN provided a guaranteed maximum price under a construction manager at risk delivery system and began the work of budget and schedule control that delivered the project in time.
The finished two story, brick façade building consists of five wings housing 100 individual units providing independent and assisted living residences for seniors. There is a full-service dining facility which prepares three meals per day for residents, a beauty and barber shop and a gym and fitness center. Seniors enjoy a full program of arts, crafts, entertainment and social activities as well as a library for leisure or serious study and an on-site chapel.
