Halliburton Barite Grinding Plant

Dunphy, Nevada

Size: 66,172 SF
Design Professional: Facility Design Group

RA-LIN was the primary building and foundations subcontractor for this minerals processing plant in Nevada being designed and built for Halliburton by the Mouat Company of Birmingham, Alabama.

The fixed price RA-LIN contract was broken down into designated areas of construction including packing, high bay, maintenance, mill, warehouse, an extensive electrical room which will power all of the plant called the Motor Control Center and compressor areas totaling approximately 66,172 SF. There is a two-level pod that includes offices, a break room, men’s and women’s lockers, and a control room. This 1600 SF pod is within the footprint of the 66,172 SF. In addition, RA-LIN added several heavily reinforced concrete pads for large exterior specialty equipment to the company’s initial contract. A new rail spur was construction in addition to the initial plans.

RA-LIN began work on the job in September and was scheduled to be finished December of two years later. Distance from the corporate office was largely overcome with the use of EarthCam.net to monitor and document the project with 360⁰ live streaming video from an HD megapixel construction camera. Using the camera along with online interactive software to hold meetings between RA-LIN’s Carrollton headquarters, Mouat’s corporate offices in Birmingham and the field offices of both companies onsite in Nevada increased productivity and reduced costs on the project.
