This was a design-bid-build project by RA-LIN which included the renovation of an existing 39,772 SF lab with future use space plus new construction of a 17,894 SF two-story science annex building for biology, chemistry, physics, and psychology labs. The design goal was to maximize the use of open spaces and to incorporate the use of as many local materials and subcontractors as possible to achieve optimum sustainability.
Clayton State University’s Director of Facilities & Plant Operations had this to say about RA-LIN, “The initial award may have been based on price, but post award, RA-LIN provided valuable input to design and materials options. Their efforts allowed us to achieve necessary scope changes with minimal change orders.” Ground was broken for the annex building on March 19 and the Certificate of Occupancy was issued to Clayton State University on November 15.
